Halloween Home Decorating Contest 2026 Rules

**Note: You will be asked to submit a photo of your home, fully decorated in the registration form so be sure you have one on hand when you register.**

 

The Borough of Pine Hill will be hosting its third annual Halloween Home Decorating Contest. Join the contest and decorate the outside of your home in a Halloween theme for a chance to win prizes!

 

Rules and Submission Information

Registration will be open from September 25 – October 20.

 

 As for prizes, we will have 3 awards that give out equal cash prizes of $75:

Spookiest/Scariest

Best Use of Lights

Best Theme/Most Cohesive

These 3 award categories will be judged by a panel of judges in person.

 

In addition, we have a separate category that will be judged by members of the community on Facebook:

People’s Choice

 

The winner of this award will receive a spot on the Pine Hill Halloween Home Decorating Contest plaque that will be displayed in Borough Hall year-round. Voting for this award will take place on Facebook. The Borough of Pine Hill Facebook page will upload an album of submissions and the house that receives the most likes during the voting period will be the winner. More details below.

 

In-person judging will take place over the course of 3 days: October 23, 24, and 25 between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm. Lights must be on during each of these time frames to be judged. Online voting for People’s Choice will take place over the course of the same 3 days with the album being uploaded at 2:00pm on October 23. Voting for this award will conclude the evening of Sunday, October 25 at 9:00pm.

 

Winners will be announced on social media by Wednesday, October 28, so be sure to follow us on Facebook!

HOW IT WORKS

1. Fill out Registration Form (https://forms.gle/gCAPRxCPnmxVMrt86).
2. During registration, you will be asked to submit a photo of your house for online voting. You will only be able to share one photo, so make it your best! No collages are permitted.
3. Make sure your house is decorated before judging begins.
4. Use the Pine Hill Halloween Home Decorating Contest Map, which will be uploaded after submissions close, to drive around and see the competing homes for yourself! The map will be amended to this page as well as posted to our Facebook: Facebook.com/PineHillBoroNJ

 

• Participation is open to all residents of Pine Hill.
• Entry is free, but you MUST submit the survey below to be entered into the contest.
• Submissions must be received no later than midnight on Tuesday, October 20, 2026.
• This contest is for exterior decorations only that are visible from the street; no judges will be entering the interior of your home to judge.
• For in person judging, judges will drive around town to each home that is entered in the contest on the weekend of October 23, 24 and 2 between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm. Remember to have your lights turned on all three nights to be judged!
• Online voting (People’s Choice) will be open from 2:00pm on October 23 to 9:00pm on October 25. Photos will be posted on our Facebook page: Facebook.com/PineHillBoroNJ
• Winners will be announced on Facebook the following week. Winners will be notified by email or phone.
